ShortSeller’s back story.

Andrew Finkle

I started on Wall Street in May 1987, at Lehman Brothers — yes, I was there for the crash, five months in. From there: Raymond James, then Gruntal & Co. as VP of Technology Investments through the heart of the tech boom. I sold my book in the late ’90s to fund an internet startup that failed, then became CIO of a small family office — where I made outsized returns and then blew it up in the dot-com crash. I’ve lost everything more than once, been laid off (2008, from an EVP seat), lost a home, and rebuilt. In 2020 I moved to Maine and bought a 1704 inn.

In 2026 — after my wife’s team was eliminated by a private-equity-backed employer for the second time — I launched AFPR and Annualize This: 38 years of pattern recognition, taught in the open. 5,000+ subscribers, a Substack Bestseller badge, and a daily chat full of people learning to read charts for themselves.

I am not a financial advisor. I’m a practitioner who shows his work — all of it.
